Gameplay focuses on trying to make ends meet and progress up the rankings in the weird, wild, world of professional wrestling while keeping yourself healthy, sane, and most importantly making enough money to live on. Don’t forget: It ain’t how much you make, it’s how much you keep.
No one can go on forever, though, and so eventually your body and/or mind will just give out on you. You can always retire before that happens but it’s hard to say no to one more big payday…

Features #

  • Menu-based RPG inaction
  • Procedurally generated wrestlers, towns, and finishing moves
  • A soundtrack of all new music created for the game
  • Earn money to survive, work hard to get noticed
  • Special Event system keeps every new game fresh

The Story #

You are a brand-new pro wrestler in a territorial system similar to pro wrestling in the United States of the mid 20th century, meaning a disconnected system of organizations centered on a geographic region each controlled by a single promoter. You’ve got a couple bucks in the bank, and you wrestle every single day for your job. In between throwing your head at the ground for a living, you live like someone who travels often and works at night might- a lot of booze, some drugs if you want, personality clashes, random happenstance, gym workouts, and a lot of being told what to do.

How Much Does It Cost? #

Rassler is pay-what-you-can (PWYC). If you can support development, pay for the game here on itch. If you pay $3.00+ you’ll get a cool exclusive magnet featuring one of the wrestlers from the game.

Some influences on Rassler #

Rassler owes a debt to classic PC business management games (such as those by folks like Wizard Games of Scotland, Impressions, and Bullfrog) and the early NES game design aesthetic. The spritework is heavily influenced by Oryx

I Have Questions or Suggestions! #

Even if you don’t or can’t pay, the Rassler Community is open to you and I’d be glad to have your feedback. Release Notes are available in the devlog.
