About the game #
Ambermoon.net is a full C# rewrite of Ambermoon and will run at least on Windows, Linux and Mac. Current version is 1.9.10 from May 27th, 2024.
Explore a huge fantasy world with lots of interesting people, brutal monsters and all kind of magic. Visit all the islands on the home planet Lyramion and even fly to the two moons which both are home to unexpected inhabitants.

The ingame experience and game mechanics are indentical to the original game by Thalion Software but the remake allows higher resolutions, fullscreen mode, music volume, an optional cheat console, an optional graphic filter, an optional auto derune function and much more.
Of course the usability was improved a bit as well but without destroying the retro flair.
No matter if you are a fan of Ambermoon or retro games in general or if you are just someone who wants to play a lovely crafted RPG with a huge world and story, this game is exactly what you are looking for. 🙂

Disclaimer #
As mentioned this is a remake. The original game “Ambermoon” was developed by Thalion Software in 1993. Unfortunately the company went bankrupt and was closed in 1994.
Savegames missing?
If your savegames are missing after patching, try to quit the game and start it again normally. In general this happens when the game normally has no write permission to the folder where the game is located. As a fallback it then stores your savegames in some user data folder. However when you use the patcher you will temporarily grant write permission to allow the patcher to replace files. Then also the game has write permission and will instead store (and load) savegames from the game folder. So the solution is to quit the game and start it again so it won’t have the extended permissions and you should see your saves again.
Run on Mac
Recent versions of macOS made it hard to run apps which are not distributed via the app store. To run the game you have to allow non-store apps manually. There are several guides on the web. For example here:
https://ioshacker.com/how-to/enable-the-installation-of-non-mac-app-store-apps-o…
Also make sure that you download the right version for your processor (Intel or ARM). If you have enabled non-store apps, sometimes it might be necessary to Ctrl+Click the game and choose “Open” explicitly. Sometimes it helps to do so twice. In some cases you have to use a terminal, change into the “Ambermoon.net.app” (it is a directory), there under Contents/MacOS run the file ./Ambermoon.net and it should work.
Note: I won’t take any responsibility for anything that is caused by changing this setting. I can only ensure that my game is safe to run. But other software out there might not be.
Update December 2023: Recently some users can start the game on Mac but it closes after selecting a language and game version. If this happens to you, try to copy the Ambermoon.net application executable directly to your programs folder. For some users it worked then. Most likely the downloaded and extracted folder is somehow marked as potential dangerous by the gatekeeper or something like this.
